Woodstock First Nation is developing a land law (a land code) to regain governance of our reserve lands.

With our own land code, we will eliminate the Indian Act's control over our reserve lands, environment and natural resources.  We need your vote for this to happen!

Woodstock First Nation (WFN) is currently developing a land code in an effort to regain the governance of our lands from the federal government and return it to our community members and First Nation as a whole.

WFN is a signatory to the Framework Agreement on First Nation Land Management. This Framework Agreement provides First Nations with the option to govern their reserve lands and resources under their own land codes, free from interference by the federal government and Indian Act.

In order for us to regain jurisdiction over our lands and operate outside the Indian Act, we must have the consent of the WFN membership by means of a vote.

The Woodstock First Nation Land Code vote will be held on

Learn more about Land Code

A First Nation signatory to the Framework Agreement exercises its land management options by creating its own land code, drafting a community ratification process, entering into an Individual Agreement with Canada, and proceeding to vote.  It is essential for band members to make informed decisions regarding the land code process.
